Bob Dylan 名古屋公演も、九州公演も行けないので、週末はJohnny Winter でも……というのは失礼なハナシ。それにしても70歳を迎えるJohnny Winter はとても高齢に見えてしまうのは、彼よりも3歳年上のBob Dylan が来日中だからだろうか。今回のBob Dylan来日公演は彼自身のヴォーカルに比重をおき、バンド・サウンド（の音量）を控えめにし、歌詞の発音も、近年には珍しくクリアで、よりその歌を引き立たせるようにしていた。他方、Johnny Winterのほうはほとんど何をうたっているのかもわからない。どちらがいい、悪いというのではないが、元気過ぎる同年代がいるというのは困り果てたものだ。比較の対象になってしまう。

しかしながらJohnny Winter Band のドラムはキツいなぁ。パワフルなのは好き嫌いがあるかもしれないが、ハシリ過ぎ。スツールに腰掛けて演奏するメインアクトの後方で、あれだけキョーレツなドラミングだとJohnny Winter自身は押されている感じになるのではないだろうか？ それとも彼の好みなのだろうか？
